Our Class Formats

At Curriculum Crossroads, we recognize that homeschool students differ in how they prefer to do their schoolwork.  Some crave interaction with their peers, others need the structure and accountability of a schedule, but prefer to work most on their own, others like to make their own schedule and work at their own pace.  For all of these students, we offer three different types of classes:

Live Classes

These classes are held live regularly throughout the semester.  Teachers typically upload resources as the weeks pass instead of uploading them all at once. Expect to see resources for each week uploaded within 24 hours of the end of the class session.  At the beginning of the semester, expect the class page to look a bit bare, however, you should see the resources you need to get started (any Before You Begin informational documents and a link to the live session of the class). Class pages for live classes are guaranteed to be available for 8 weeks after the semester ends.  After this, they will be archived so the material will no longer be available.  Please be sure to stay on track with the class schedule.

Sibling Add-On:  This type of listing allows you to enroll an additional student into a live                         class that you already purchased enrollment for.  These listings are used with Single                             Enrollment only.

Payment Plans: These listings allow you break the total enrollment fee into monthly                                payments throughout the semester.  You can read more about our payment plans here.

How do I know if this format is a fit for my student?

Live classes are a great fit for most students!  This format is the most interactive providing live interaction between students and the teacher during class sessions.  Live classes are best suited for a student who has room in their weekly schedule to attend the live sessions.  Although all of our live sessions are recorded, live classes lose many of their benefits when students only view the class recordings.

Hybrid Classes

These classes run on a semester schedule just like live classes, but do not have live sessions each week.  Instead, each week, a new lesson and accompanying class material will be posted to the class page.  These lessons consist of a recorded lesson, a lesson with a audio so the student can listen and follow along, or a lesson for the student to read themselves.  The rest of the class material is identical to the material delivered in a live class and can consist of a variety of assignments, projects, quizzes, and tests.  Assignments, quizzes, and tests in hybrid classes are graded by a teacher so your student will receive feedback on their work.  Students are expected to keep up with the class as it advances week to week, just like they would in a live class.  When you enroll, you should see the resources you need to get started (such as Before You Begin informational documents).  Class pages for hybrid classes are guaranteed to be available for 8 weeks after the semester ends.  After this, they will be archived so the material will no longer be available.  Please be sure to stay on track with the class schedule.

How do I know if this format is a fit for my student?

This class format is a great fit for busy students! Students that cannot attend the class sessions of live classes and instead watch the recordings are a great fit for hybrid classes.  These classes run on the same type of schedule as live classes, but material is posted to the class page each week for students to complete.  Class material posted can range from recorded class sessions, lessons to read, assignments, projects, quizzes, tests, and more!  Resources, class material, and assignments vary class to class depending on teacher, grade level, and subject topics.

This format is great for students who also like the structure and accountability of a live class, but cannot attend the live sessions.

These classes are also a great fit for those who are a little more budget-conscious as they generally have lower enrollment fees.

Self-Paced Classes

These classes have all the same type of resources and class work as live and hybrid classes, but there are no live sessions and all class work is conducted at the student’s self-directed pace.  Like our other classes, self-paced classes are 100% teacher-supported so student assignments are reviewed and graded.  Feedback is also given when necessary.  Also, support and help are available should students have questions or run into challenges. Since these classes are conducted at the student’s pace, just log into the class page and get started.

How do I know if this format is a fit for my student?

This class format is great for students who like to work through coursework on their own.  Self-paced classes accept enrollments all the time and do not follow a semester schedule.  This format is best for students who are able to set their own schedule and are self-driven to work through the material.  There are no due dates in these classes and class material is available throughout the entire length of the subscription period.  Interactions with classmates and the teacher is available in these classes via the class page and forum boards.  This format is also 100% teacher-supported and all assignments are graded.  Your student is never alone when they take a self-paced class!
