Welcome to High School Short Stories – Volume 2 Self-Paced Class! In this class, we will study four popular short stories that explore the darker area of humanity. Students will not only read the stories in this class, but will tasked with exploring literary techniques and exploring themes within these stories. Students will be encouraged to explore their thoughts on these stories using questions and writing prompts and express their thoughts in writing.
Stories included in this class:
- Lamb to the Slaughter by Roald Dahl
- The Interlopers by Saki (H.H. Munro)
- There Will Come Soft Rains by Ray Bradbury
- The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allan Poe
*This class is limited to students age 13 and up. These stories contain themes not suitable for younger students.
Topics covered in this class include, but are not limited to:
- Cause and Effect
- Character analysis
- Annotating a text

Textbook/Workbooks Needed for this Class: None
This self-paced class is the equivalent to a four-session live class. It is 100% teacher-supported and all class resources will be delivered via a class page online though not all assignments are online. There are many offline assignments for students to complete. Assignments completed and turned in on the class page will be returned with a grade and feedback. At the end of the course, student will receive a final grade. Students can contact the teacher with any questions or challenges, as well as interact with classmates via class forum boards.
