Welcome to Literature Study: Little House on the Prairie Live Class!

Come and follow along with the Ingall’s Family as they journey to the Kansas Prairie in a covered wagon to set up a homestead in Indian Territory! Experience the adventure in this interactive class while we study, history, geography, vocabulary and farming and in this wild prairie literature study.

Home extension activities include:

  • bake Laura’s heart shaped cookies
  • make Ma’s plum preserves
  • make a friendship bracelet
  • play children’s pioneer party games
  • and more!

Each class will end with hot chocolate and cookie time as I read one of my favorite passages from the current week’s reading assignment.

Semester ends with a Show and Tell Pioneer Project of your choice.

Our live class will be filled with:

  • “Show and Tell” of your past weeks’ book activities
  • History/ geography – “Did you know time?”
  • Literature Spotlight
  • Reading comprehension and vocabulary
  • Hot chocolate time!

This class begins on August 28, 2019 and runs weekly on Tuesdays at 1:00pm Central Time through October 30, 2019.

About Mrs. Jan May

Jan May is a home education veteran and has over fifteen years of creative writing instruction experience. She enjoys igniting creativity and believes that given the right tools and encouragement, any student can write and love it! Jan believes in the group dynamic and promotes an interactive learning experience.

Jan has a college background in Biblical Studies, Psychology and Education from North Central University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She is also a graduate of the Institute of Children’s Literature.

As a pastor’s wife, Jan enjoys inspiring faith in women, teens and children, encouraging them to dream big with a faithful God. She resides in the Chicago area with her husband where she loves to garden, write and play with her loveable lab, Hunter.
