This is a special weather statement regarding the hurricane bearing down on the east coast of the United States – Hurricane Florence. We wanted to make everyone aware of the situation since we do have families and students from all over the United States and the world so not everyone may be aware of this developing situation. As of when this was written, a category 4 hurricane is off the east coast of the United states and projected to affect North Carolina and/or Virginia later this week.
We do have teachers that live in this area and will likely be impacted by this storm. We are in constant contact with them and will post updates if looks like their classes will be disrupted by the storm. In the event that a live class session cannot be held due to effects of the storm (evacuation, power outages, etc.), one of two things will happen. Either a make up class will be added to the end of the semester and class will resume where it left off after the previous session or the teacher will record the session that was missed and post it to the class page for students to view. The rest of the class will remain the same regarding any assignments, tests, or quizzes that need to be completed and turned in.
We also have families and students in that area. If you are in the path of this hurricane, please know that all of our live sessions are recorded and posted to the class page. If you are unable to attend a live session due to the hurricane, all resources will be ready and waiting for you on the class page when you are ready to resume.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those who have been or will be affected by this storm. We wish you safety and peace during this time.
